Annual Report 1955 of Shree Gopal Papers Mills Limited

BACKGROUND

Shree Gopal Paper Mills Limited was established  as Punjab Pulp And Papers Mills at Abdullapur , Distt. Ambala ( then Punjab ) , Railway Station - Jagadhri .After 1947 Abdullapur came to be known as Jamnanagar and  , now , Yamunanagar ( Haryana ).( There was a Light Railway Line near the paper mill
which had opened in 1911. , about 5 km long , Gauge : 2'0" which connected Jagadhri station ( Abdullapur ) with Jagadhri city).

The paper mill was based on the raw material of Wild Grass ( Babbad Ghaas ) found in the jungles of Kalesar near Chhachuraulli on the Shivalik foothills ( erstwhile Kalsia State ).

In 1969 Shree Gopal Paper Mills Limited merged with Ballarpur Paper And Straw Board Mills Limited . It clanged its name to present day Ballarpur Industries Limited ( part of renowned Avantha Group of Gautam Thapar ) in 1975  .

Sahukara Bank Limited - Cheque Book

BACKGROUND
Sahukara Bank Limited was established in 1912 . In 1947 it suffered due to partition as it had some branches in Pakistan .It was headquartered at Ludhiana .

Sahukara Bank Limited was left with very few branches  including  Two in Ludhiana ( One at Chaura Bazar which was also the Registered Office of the Bank and the othee Ludhiana Branch was at Gill Road - Millerganj ) and a  Branch  at Jagadhri , now in Haryana )

In 1971, Sahukara Bank Limited merged with The New Bank of India Limited ( original company became Sahukara Enterprises Limited.).

1944 Silver Rupee - Lahore Mint - Rotational Error

 " Sikka Cheherey Shahi " meaning Coin with Royal Face in local parlance



Rotational Error ( mismatch between obverse and reverse sides ) of around 30 %  ( like 11 o Clock and 12 o Clock ).

Background

Due to the outbreak of World War II in 1939 prices of silver shot up . In 1939 ( rare year )very few silver rupees were minted . From 1940 onwards silver content in the coins including the Rupee was reduced to 50 % , These were called  called " DOPPAR " in local parlance


Lahore Mint was established by the British in 1943 ( Mint Mark "L" ). The British feared that the Azad Hind Fauj ( INA )under Netaji Subhash Chander Bose and the Japanese would liberate Calcutta and the Calcutta Mint may come under " Arzi Hukumat - Azad Hind " ( Provisional Government of Free India ) . So a mint was put up in a " safer " Lahore. In 1947 Lahore came under Pakistan
