Patiala State Reply Paid Post Cards Pair - Independent India's Stamps Superimposed

Type : Indian Postal History ( Stationery ) - Post Cards - Princely States - Philately

This very interesting pair of Reply Paid Post Card set ( The unused was meant for Reply )

Note : -

1 ) The Post Cars were , originally , of Patiala State . Note the Patiala State symbol just below the Stamp on the Right.

2 ) After independence , old Patiala State Postal Stationery was continued . BUT INDEPENDENT INDIA 's POSTAL STAMPS WERE SUPERAFFIXED ON THE OLD PRINTED STAMP OF PATIALA STATE . This shows that after 1947 British Indian Stamps continued to remain valid BUT , stamps of Indian Princely States ( like Patala State ) were discontinued on the merger of the Princely State with the Indian Union .

3 ) Note Patiala is shown in the Reply post card address as part of PEPSU ( meaning Patiala and East Punjab States Union )

P
